Real pumpkins on a table are wonderful for about two weeks and then they are a problem. These are the pair that sits with them and outlasts them: glazed ceramic in a pumpkin ghost shape with jack-o-lantern inspired faces and gold stems, close enough in form to look like part of the same arrangement, permanent enough to still be there at Thanksgiving.

Each one lights from behind, through an opening that takes a flameless LED tea light, and three lights come in the box with batteries already fitted. For two holders that is one spare, which is the detail you appreciate in the second week. A lit face on a dining table also solves the thing candles cannot: it can sit among napkins and paper without anybody watching it.

The two faces are different, with their own expressions and gold stem detailing, so a pair on a table has two things to look at rather than one repeated twice. The ceramic is premium with a smooth glaze, sturdy, heat-resistant and reusable, and on a smaller table the pair is the right scale where a set of three would leave nowhere to put the plates.
