Botanical pillows in AELS home decor
A printed leaf is a picture on a square. Our botanical pillows are designed the other way round: the outline of a cactus, a monstera leaf or a sunflower is the shape of the pillow itself, so what sits on the sofa reads as a soft sculpture of the plant rather than a souvenir of it. Stitched veins and stuffed arms keep those organic shapes standing when someone leans on them.
We love them next to real plants, where the contrast between a living leaf and a velvet one is part of the fun, and in rooms that need a little nature without the watering.
Color and pattern
Greens run from gray sage to bright lime. The muted pairs suit cool, painted walls and contemporary rooms with a lot of white space; the bright pairs belong in nurseries, reading corners and anywhere color is the point. Embroidered pieces use thread raised from the surface, so the pattern catches side light and throws small shadows of its own — an unexpected bit of depth for a cushion.
Materials and care
Velvet-feel dotted pile, corduroy and cotton are the materials we keep returning to, because each takes stitching cleanly and survives the washing machine. Every pillow here arrives filled, vacuum-packed, and needs a day to recover its loft. Wash cold, on its own, and dry low.
Where they work
A pair of cactus pillows of unequal height strikes a better balance on a wide sofa than one large cushion. Leaf shapes lie flat across the lines of a bed; flowers and butterflies brighten a window seat. Each was created to be moved around the house as the light and seasons change.
