Storage baskets in AELS home decor
A storage basket that slumps when half-full ends up in a cupboard. Ours are designed to hold their shape: cotton rope and paper rope are woven tightly, with handles worked into the weave so they carry full loads, and the scalloped and striped patterns are part of the structure rather than decoration added on top.
Good storage gives a room space back. A basket at the end of a sofa holds throws; a hanging hamper turns the back of a door into a laundry station.
Materials and texture
Cotton rope is soft and washable, paper rope is crisp and light, stoneware is heavy and practical. The natural color of woven materials brings warmth and organic texture to contemporary rooms full of straight lines, and a little contrast to white shelving.
Kitchen pieces
Our slotted stoneware berry baskets were created for rinsing and serving fruit: water drains through the cutouts, air moves round the berries afterwards, and they go in the dishwasher. A woven utensil caddy carries plates, cutlery and napkins to the table in one trip — an unexpected help at every family dinner.
Choosing a size
Measure the shelf or cube before you choose; each page lists the dimensions. People love using several baskets of the same color in different shapes — a quiet design trick that strikes a calm note on open shelving.
