What this one is for

Children choose books by the cover, which is why a normal bookcase in a child's room stays untouched and a front-facing ledge does not. Four ledges at 15.7 inches long give you a wall of covers at their eye level, and the 2.5-inch lip holds them upright without the books having to be wedged in.

They are reversible, which is a small thing that matters over years: flipped the other way up, the scalloped edge changes the look of the wall completely, so the same shelves can move from a nursery to an older child's room or into a hallway without looking like leftovers. All the fixings are in the box.

Woven by hand from 100 percent eco-friendly paper rope around a metal frame, they are light and are built for light things: books, small toys and decor, not heavy objects. Being handmade, each of the four has small variations in the weave, which is what stops a row of them looking machine-made.
