What this one is for
The pattern is the difference and it changes where this belongs. The cream and green version blends into a counter of plain ceramics; the strawberry print does not, and is not meant to. It is the one to put out on a table with food on it, at a summer lunch, a party or a bake sale, where a patterned dish is part of the setting rather than something the setting has to accommodate.
It still works the way a berry basket should. Slotted sides let air move around fruit so a punnet of raspberries or cherry tomatoes lasts longer out of the fridge than it does sealed in plastic, and the slots double as a colander: rinse in it, drain it, serve from it, without a second bowl.
The material is high-quality stoneware, dense and durable, and it is safe in the oven, the microwave and the dishwasher, so it is not a display piece that has to be handled carefully. Off duty it holds party favors, baked goods, small odds and ends in a drawer, or nothing at all.
