Chenille Tufted Green Christmas Tree Pillow Cover, 18 x 18 in, Cream

Description

Read the package before the picture: this is a cover on its own, with no insert, so the pad has to come from somewhere else. That is usually a good thing, because the cheapest way to change a living room when the decorations go up is to put new faces on the cushions already sitting on the sofa and keep the old covers for spring.

The tree is tufted, not printed. Loops of yarn are worked into the chenille so the shape stands off the surface and casts a small shadow of its own, which is why it still reads in a room lit by a single lamp, the hour when a flat printed cushion goes invisible against the upholstery.

Cream is the easier of our two grounds to place, since it sits with gray, beige and natural linen and lets the green do the only talking. Care is strict and worth knowing first: spot clean only, wipe a mark with a damp towel, and keep it out of the machine. Tufted yarn on a chenille ground does not survive a wash cycle.
