What this one is for
Off-white and gold is the finish people reach for when the photograph is a happy one. A dark frame gives a picture gravity, which suits a portrait of a grandparent and does not suit a wedding, a christening or a new baby; the pale version keeps the same carved detail and takes all the solemnity out of it.
The oval opening crops a standard 4 by 6 print into a rounded upright, which flatters a single subject and softens the edges of a photograph that was shot too tight or too busy. It is a genuinely useful trick: a mediocre snapshot often improves once its corners are gone.
Cast in polyresin with hand finishing, fronted with clear stain-resistant glass, and built with both an easel stand and metal hanging hooks. The back opens easily, which is worth knowing if the frame is a gift and the photograph inside will eventually be replaced.
