Whale Pillow, 16.5 in, Navy Blue

Description

Navy does a different job from the sky blue version of this whale. Pale blue reads as nursery wherever you put it; a deep navy reads as water, so the same shape settles into a grown-up room, on a reading chair or at the end of a dark sofa, where the lighter blue would look like it wandered in from a child's bed.

It is also the more forgiving color in a room that gets used. A dark plush shows less of the handling, dust and general wear that a pale pile collects over a season, which is worth weighing if the whale is going to live somewhere people actually sit rather than on a bed that stays made.

The shape is sewn and stuffed in three dimensions, roughly 16.5 by 13.3 inches, with the tail and fins built out rather than printed flat, over an eco-friendly fill that holds the outline. It arrives vacuum-packed and unimpressive: shake it, give it a day or two, and wash cold on its own with a low tumble when it needs it.
