Vintage Arched Crown Picture Frame, 4 x 6 in, Gold

Description

A crowned arch around the same print changes what it is, because the shape does the work a wide mat and a deep border would otherwise have to do.

The crown is the raised flourish at the top of the arch, and in gold it is the first thing the eye finds. That makes this a frame for a surface you pass rather than study: an entryway console, the end of a bookshelf, a mantel where it is seen at an angle and from a distance and still reads as ornament rather than as a dark rectangle.
