Vintage Scrolled Corner Picture Frame, 5 x 7 in, Gold and Black

Description

Black frames are the safe choice in a workspace and they are also the dull one: a plain black rectangle on a desk looks like it arrived with the printer. Gold scrolls at the four corners cost nothing in formality and change the reading completely, because the contrast is high enough that the ornament draws as a bright line.

That high contrast is the whole character of this finish. Against a white wall or a pale desk the gold corners mark exactly where the frame ends, so a 5 by 7 photograph sits inside a visible outline instead of floating. It handles black and white prints and formal portraits particularly well for the same reason.

The opening is a plain rectangle and swallows a standard 5 by 7 print whole, with no corner lost to a shape. Polyresin, hand-finished so the scrolls keep their edges, glass that resists stains and fingerprints, an easel for the desk, metal hooks for either orientation, and a back that needs no tools.
