What this one is for
Blue and gold at 5 by 7 is the most decorative object in this section that still holds a photograph. It is not a background frame and should not be bought as one: on a shelf of black and wood, this is the piece the eye goes to first, and the photograph inside it gets looked at as a result.
The oval shape works with the color rather than against it. A blue rectangle reads as a colored box; a blue oval with a gold edge reads as a cameo, and the carved relief around the opening deepens the color in the recesses so it never looks like flat paint. Put a portrait in it, not a landscape.
