What this one is for
Gold at this size behaves differently from gold at the small size. A large expanse of the pile gathers light along its whole length, so a lamp two feet away turns one half of the shape bright and leaves the other in shadow. In a dark room that reading is the reason to buy it; in a flatly lit room it loses most of the effect.
It is also the easiest large lip to place. Where a 24-inch red demands a plain background, gold sits against brown, green, black and most woods without argument, because it is closer to a warm neutral than to a color. That makes it the practical choice for a room that is already full.
The face is a velvet-feel polyester over PP fiber, filled and closed. Machine wash cold on its own and tumble dry low. Metallic-toned pile shows crush marks more visibly than matte colors do; brush the nap in one direction with a dry hand and it comes back.
