What this one is for
Wired sconces mean an electrician, a channel cut in the wall and a decision you cannot reverse. These hang on one small nail using the built-in hook, and from the room they look like the traditional hardwired lamps they imitate, which makes a hallway, an entryway or the wall either side of a bed look finished in about five minutes.
The light itself lifts off magnetically to be charged over USB and clicks back on, so there is no wiring, no battery compartment to fight with, and no cable running down the wall. A full charge gives up to ten hours of continuous light at full brightness, which in practice is several evenings of the way people actually use a sconce.
The controls go further than the look suggests. Three white temperatures, warm through natural to cool, twelve RGB colors, five brightness levels and smooth or flash modes, all from the included remote, plus a timer set to 30, 60 or 120 minutes for automatic shutoff. That last one is the feature people end up using nightly, for reading in bed or as a nursery light that turns itself off.
