Four of them, and the small size is the point. At roughly 4.25 by 4 by 2.8 inches each, these are punnet-sized rather than bowl-sized, so the raspberries, the cherry tomatoes and the cherries all get a container of their own instead of sharing one dish and bruising each other on the counter.

The slotted sides do the job the cardboard tray at the farmers market does, only permanently and without looking like packaging in the kitchen. Air moves around the fruit instead of sitting still inside sealed plastic, and the same slots work as a colander: rinse the berries in the basket, let them drain over the sink, then put the basket straight out.

The body is stoneware, dense and strong rather than delicate, and it is safe in the oven, the microwave and the dishwasher, so none of the four has to be treated as display. Blush coral with honey yellow is the pairing for a kitchen that can carry some color, and off fruit duty they hold candy, party favors, bread or the small things that collect in a drawer.
