Handwoven Cat Cave for Cube Shelves, Natural

Description

Cats pick the shelf regardless of what was bought for them, so this is the shelf, converted. The cube is 13 by 13 by 15 inches, drawn to slide into the open square of a cube shelving unit, which turns a storage hole into a hooded bed at the height cats actually want and costs the room no floor space at all.

It is built to hold its shape rather than slump under a sleeping animal: an internal metal frame under odorless, breathable handwoven PVC rattan, with a cat-shaped entrance cut into the front. The cushion pad inside is double-sided for the two halves of the year, lifts out for the machine, and the rattan itself wipes clean, which is the whole of the maintenance.

Natural is the colorway for the shelving most people already own. Against oak, pine or a warm veneer the weave matches the wood instead of interrupting the run of cubes, so what the room gains is a textured panel rather than visible pet equipment. Lifted out of the shelf it works alone as a dual-layer house, or as a cover for a mini litter pan while a kitten learns the idea.
