What this one is for
Most of what people photograph now is square or gets cropped square before anyone sees it, and then it gets forced into a 4 by 6 frame where either the sides get chopped or a band of white mat appears at the top and bottom. A 4 by 4 opening ends that argument: the picture goes in as it was framed on the screen.
The pearl border does the same work here as on the larger version, but the square outline changes the character. A square frame reads as modern in a way an upright rectangle does not, so the beaded rim keeps it from being austere while the format keeps it from being fussy. Two or three of them in a row on a shelf make a stronger arrangement than one alone.
Cast polyresin with hand finishing, clear stain-resistant glass, and a back that opens without tools. Both an easel stand and metal hanging hooks are built in, so it stands on a dresser or hangs on a wall in either orientation without any extra hardware.
