Vintage Christmas Picture Frame, 8 x 10 in, Red with Gold Trim

Description

At 8 by 10 this stops being a shelf object and becomes a wall piece. One large ornate frame does something a group of small ones cannot: it gives a wall a center, and anything hung around it afterwards relates to it. The metal hanging hooks are built into the back for exactly that, and the easel stand is still there if it ends up leaning on a sideboard or a wide mantel instead.

The red and gold finish carries the holiday on color alone, with no cast tree or holly to tie the frame to one month, which matters much more at this size. An 8 by 10 is not something anybody wants to take down and store in January, and this one does not ask to be: it is an ornate antique-style frame that happens to be in a festive color.

The molding is cast in durable polyresin with a hand-finished brushed look that keeps the detail legible at arm's length, and clear stain-resistant glass protects an 8 by 10 print, a certificate or a piece of artwork from dust and fingerprints. The backing opens easily, vertically or horizontally, so the same frame can change contents without any tools.
