Vintage Distressed Picture Frame, 5 x 7 in, Dark Bronze

Description

A new frame in a room of old things is conspicuous in a way that is hard to fix, because the problem is not the shape but the evenness of the surface. A distressed finish answers it directly: the dark bronze is worked back so the raised edges come up lighter than the recesses and the frame looks like something that has stood on a shelf for decades.

That puts it in shabby chic and farmhouse rooms, on scrubbed pine and painted furniture that already has chips in it, and next to iron and old brass. It is the frame in this batch least likely to be read as a recent purchase, which is the whole reason to choose it over a clean gold one.

Ornate detailing sits under the finish, cast in durable polyresin with a hand-finished look, and the 5 by 7 opening is rectangular, so a standard print goes in with nothing cropped. Clear stain-resistant glass, an easel stand plus built-in metal hooks for either orientation, and a backing that opens without tools.
