An 8 by 10 frame with pierced openwork molding in gold over black, so the wall behind it fills the cut edge.
Description
A solid frame sits on a wall. An openwork one lets the wall into it, and on paint, paper or a panel of wood that is the point: the cut edge fills with whatever is behind it, so the same frame looks different in two rooms and in both of them looks like it was picked for that one.
Gold over black is the high-contrast version of the idea. The black fills the recesses while the brushed gold catches on the raised edges, so the piercing reads as depth rather than as a pattern printed on, and from a distance you see a bright ornate outline instead of a flat border. It can carry being the only openwork frame in a group.
The opening is rectangular and takes a standard 8 by 10 print uncropped. Durable polyresin, hand-finished so the detail stays sharp where the molding is cut away, clear stain-resistant glass over the print, an easel stand and built-in metal hanging hooks, and a backing that opens easily to change the picture.
