Vintage Ribbon Twist Picture Frame, 8 x 10 in, Green

Description

Most ornate frames put their decoration in the corners and leave the sides plain. This one does the opposite: the twist repeats along all four sides, so the eye travels around the picture instead of stopping at four fixed points. On a wall of corner-ornamented frames it is the one with a rhythm to it.

Green holds that pattern better than a pale finish would. The brushed highlight catches the raised face of each turn of the ribbon while the color stays in the hollows between them, so the twist reads as depth from a distance rather than as a line drawn on the molding. In a room with wood or dark paint, that is what keeps the frame from flattening out.

The 8 by 10 opening is rectangular and takes the print as it is. Durable polyresin with hand finishing to keep the twist crisp, clear stain-resistant glass, an easel stand and built-in metal hooks so it stands or hangs either way up, and a back that opens easily when the photograph changes.
