Description
Gold, bronze, black and white make a safe gallery wall and a slightly dull one. One frame with real color in it changes how the whole group reads, and blue is the color to do it with, because it is the hue that does not quarrel with wood, brass or a warm white wall. Use one of these, not four.
The leaf detail sits at the corners rather than running evenly around the molding, and corners are where the eye travels on a grid of frames. That is the difference between this and a frame ornamented all over: the decoration lands at the four points where this frame meets its neighbors, so it reads as deliberate from across the room.
The opening is a full rectangle, so an 8 by 10 print goes in without cropping, and the gold along the raised edges keeps the blue from flattening into paint. Polyresin with a hand-finished look, clear stain-resistant glass, an easel stand and metal hooks for either orientation, and a back that opens without tools.
