An 8 by 10 in gold and black with a garland of roses cast along the ornate molding, behind clear glass.
Description
A frame with flowers on it suggests an occasion, and that narrows what should go inside it. A wedding photograph, an anniversary portrait, a christening print: pictures taken on a day somebody dressed up for. The black field is what keeps the roses from turning sweet, so the frame stays formal rather than sentimental.
On a wall it is the detailed one, which means it needs a little room. Hung at eye level with plain frames around it, the garland reads clearly and the arrangement has a center; packed tightly between two other ornate frames, the detail turns to noise and the picture inside loses out. Gold over black also holds its own next to black frames that have no metal on them at all.
The 8 by 10 opening is rectangular, so a portrait or a group shot goes in whole. Durable polyresin with a hand-finished surface for the intricate roses, clear stain-resistant glass, an easel stand and built-in metal hooks for either orientation, and an easy-open back for changing the photograph.
