Description

Rounded furniture, curved mirrors and arched headboards have taken the corners out of a lot of rooms, and then the photographs go up in sharp rectangles anyway. This one keeps the clean lines of the mid-century look but ripples the outline, so the frame agrees with the shapes around it instead of being the one straight-edged thing left in the room.

Satin nickel is the other half of the idea. It is a cool, low-shine metal rather than a gold, which puts it with chrome taps, nickel handles and steel lamps, and it reads as retro rather than antique: a piece from a mid-century dresser instead of a carved European wall. Each one is finished by hand, so the wave is never machine-identical.

Stain-resistant glass keeps sticky fingerprints off whatever is behind it, which matters when what goes in is children's artwork rather than a portrait. There is an easel kickstand for a tabletop, counter, desk or shelf, where it sits horizontally or vertically, and a hook for hanging it vertically on a wall. The backing opens easily for changes.
