Vintage Scalloped Picture Frame, 4 x 4 in, Dark Walnut

Description

Small square frames work in threes. One on its own looks like it was left there, but three along a shelf at the same height read as an arrangement, and a scalloped edge keeps that arrangement from looking like a grid of tiles, because the outline is broken all the way round and the group gets a soft silhouette.

At 4 by 4 the picture is close range, so what goes in is the kind of image that rewards being looked at rather than noticed from the door: a face, a detail of a dress, a dog's head, a photograph cropped square on a phone. Dark walnut keeps the whole group quiet enough that the shelf does not turn into a display.

Each one is cast from durable polyresin and finished by hand, which is what keeps the scallops even all the way round, and the print sits under glass that shrugs off stains and fingerprints. The hardware covers both options at once: a fold-out easel for the shelf, metal hooks for the wall, and a back that comes away by hand.
