An 8 by 10 frame in ornately designed polyresin brushed with elegant white, in the Victorian European manner, with glass over the print.
Description
Off-white is the finish for an arrangement going onto pale plaster or a light paper. A dark frame on that wall reads as a dark rectangle first and a photograph second, and eight of them read as a grid of holes. White frames let the pictures be the only dark things in the group, which is the effect most people are actually after.
The openwork molding is what keeps this one from disappearing at that lightness. Where a plain white frame goes invisible, a pierced baroque edge catches a shadow in every cut, so the outline gets drawn by shade rather than by color. At 8 by 10 the ornament is large enough to read from the far side of a room.
It is individually hand crafted in resin with stain-resistant glass that stops sticky fingerprints reaching whatever is behind it, which is the real reason these end up holding children's artwork. The back carries an easel kickstand and a hanging hook, so it stands on a shelf or hangs on the wall either way up, and the backing opens easily for changing the picture.
