An 8 by 10 in black with brushed gold on the raised detail, the finish that agrees with most of what is already hanging.
Description
Every gallery wall needs one frame that the others are measured from, and this is the obvious candidate. Black and gold argues with nothing: it sits next to dark wood, painted furniture, brass and other black frames without asking anybody to rearrange the room around it, and at 8 by 10 it is large enough to hold the middle of an arrangement.
The gold is what keeps a large dark frame from turning into a blank shape at a distance. Brushed over the raised parts of the molding, it draws the outline and lets the carved relief throw a shadow, so from across a room you see an ornament with a picture in it instead of a rectangle of black.
An 8 by 10 opening takes the print as it is, and the hooks are set for hanging either way up, which matters at this size: the same frame can hold an upright portrait in a column of small frames or a landscape above a console. Cast polyresin, clear stain-resistant glass, easel stand, and a back that opens for photo changes.
