A 5 by 7 oval in antique gold with a fluted edge instead of carved ornament, cast in resin behind clear glass.
Description
Fluting is repetition rather than decoration: a run of even grooves around the oval, with no flowers, scrolls or bows anywhere on it. That gives you the antique shape and the aged gold color without the flourishes, which makes it the easiest of our ovals to place in a plain modern room.
It is also the frame that calms a crowded shelf. Three heavily carved frames side by side turn into one busy mass, and a fluted profile among them gives the eye somewhere to rest while still matching on shape and finish, so the group reads as collected rather than as competing.
The oval window crops the corners of a standard 5 by 7 print, so keep the subject centered. Cast resin with a hand-finished gold, clear stain-resistant glass, an easel stand and built-in metal hooks for a tabletop or a wall mount, and a backing that opens easily.
