Vintage Picture Frame, 5 x 7 in, Blue with Gold Trim

Description

Painting a wall is a weekend and a decision you have to live with. Putting one blue object on a shelf of wood and white takes ten seconds and can be undone just as fast. At 5 by 7 this frame is large enough to be that object, and because the opening is a plain rectangle it still earns the space by holding a photograph you can read at a glance.

Blue and gold is a cool pairing, which makes it kind to cool photographs: something taken outdoors, a white shirt, a gray sky, water. Warm sepia prints fight it. The brushed gold along the raised edges catches the light and keeps the blue from flattening into painted board when you step back from it.

The body is durable polyresin, hand-finished so the ornate detail stays legible in the deep parts of the molding, and clear stain-resistant glass keeps fingerprints off the print. An easel stand and built-in metal hooks are both there, so it can stand on a console or hang either way up.
