A 5 by 7 rectangle in a retro gold, warmer and browner than a bright gilt, with ornate cast relief.
Description
Not all gold is the same temperature. This is the softer, browner gold of a nineteen-seventies interior rather than the bright leaf of a museum frame, and it belongs in rooms built out of warm colors: amber glass, teak, a record shelf, a lamp with a yellow shade. Against cold white and chrome it would look stranded.
Because the whole molding is one tone, the ornament reads as shape rather than as contrast, and that is forgiving toward a busy photograph. A crowded group shot or a picture with a lot of color in it does not have to compete with a two-tone border, and a standard 5 by 7 print fills the opening with nothing cropped.
It is cast in durable polyresin with a hand-finished look that keeps the detailing sharp, fronted with clear stain-resistant glass that wipes clean. The back carries both an easel stand and metal hanging hooks, and opens easily when the photograph inside is due to be changed.
